Research Engineer to Market Leading Company

The New Technology section at the research department of BMUM Unit Mobile Platforms is responsible for research in the areas of software, multimedia, and security.To broaden the competence of the multimedia team we now search for a research engineer within Multimedia Graphics and Video. The company is headquartered in Lund, Sweden, where a majority of the company's approximately 1,800 employees are located.We also have operations in China, Germany, Japan, Norway, South Korea, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, and the United States.About the position The multimedia content on mobile phones is becoming much richer as improved data rates over cellular networks permits streaming of high-quality audio and video to the terminals.Moreover, the phone is used for advanced imaging, video, and gaming which put extensive requirements on processing power and graphics support for both 2D and 3D applications. This position will look into efficient usage of the graphics subsystems that are part of the next generation of EMPs platforms, including novel techniques related to graphics accelerators.With such techniques in place, the accelerating hardware can be used for many things.In addition to accelerating traditional 3D graphics, it can be utilized for video pre- and postfiltering, 2D-graphics, and creating an accelerated GUI framework. An important aspect of the work is to acquire knowledge within new areas, demonstrate concept designs in software, and actively interact with the development units in order to understand their needs and transfer knowledge to them.Your background Formal Education Needed is a master or doctoral degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or other relevant field such as Electrical Engineering or Technical Physics.Requested competence is knowledge of and experience from software development in C and some scripting language.If you have experiences from one or more of algorithm design, GPU shader programming, modern 2D-graphics engines, and video processing this is considered as an additional qualification and is of great interest for us.You also ave good communication skills, both verbally and written, and a genuine interest for problems relating to graphics and/or video on embedded systems.The employment This position is located in Lund, Sweden and it is a local contract.The position will start with a test period for six months where you are employed by Academic Search.After this, if you, the team leader and the other team members feel good about each other and want to keep on working together, a regular employment will be offered. http://www.appsgate.com/asi/keab.nsf/web.nysokande
