Research Engineer Upstream - Surface & Corrosion

ROLE PURPOSE:
Research Engineer – Surface Treatment & Corrosion
We’re currently looking for a Research Engineer in corrosion of aluminium to be part of our team of material experts.
As a Research Engineer in Hydro Extrusion you will mainly work with corrosion of extruded aluminium alloys often in connection to anodising and polymer coating processes. You will plan, coordinate and execute development projects in the area of surface treatment and corrosion. Project work at Hydro ranges from theoretical studies to practical work in our laboratories as well as supporting implementation in plants. You will support Hydro operating companies and product development with troubleshooting tasks and advice in corrosion and surface treatment area.
The position responsibility covers:
Identify R&D needs within Hydro Extrusion
Responsible for one or more R&D projects including planning, coordination and reporting of results
Support transfer and implementation of R&D results when applicable
Build up professional networks incl. contacts with Universities/Institutes and external research organizations
Skills and work experience:
5+ years of work in industrial/applied R&D in corrosion science
Project management skills
Team player
Experience in polymer and coating chemistry is a plus.
Knowledge of physical metallurgy in aluminium alloys is a plus
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Work Experience
5+ years of work in industrial/applied R&D in corrosion science
Education
M.Sc / PhD University degree in Corrosion or Materials Science
Language
Fluency in English is mandatory. Any other language is a plus
Skills
Project management skills
Team player
Experience in polymer and coating chemistry is a plus.
