Context of position:
The astroparticle physics group in the Faculty of Technology, Department of Physics and Electrical Engineering at Linnaeus University invites applications for a Research fellow position in air-shower detection applied to gamma-ray astrophysics. The group is involved in Very-High-Energy gamma astronomy and astrophysics and participates in the H.E.S.S. experiment and in the CTA project (please visit the website lnu.se/ap for more information).
The successful candidate will be based in the Växjö campus, and will work in the design study and prototyping of a new high-altitude air-shower gamma-ray experiment complementary to CTA, the conception and the design of which will be carried out at Linnaeus University in our research group, with possible collaboration with other institutes.

Qualification requirements
The eligibility requirements are a Ph.D. in Physics or Astrophysics or equivalent. Candidates who obtained a doctoral degree or equivalent competences no longer than seven years before the final application date should be considered first.
Grounds of assessment
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are essential.
• Advanced skills in Monte Carlo simulations (Corsika and Geant4 for instance) and in hardware developments are key aspects for the position. The applicant is assumed to have the ability to conduct research within the described area, with demonstrated skills to generate new ideas and innovate.
• Documented background and experience in the proposed research area are advantageous. Research track record including minimum of two peer-reviewed research publications is required; stronger publication history a plus.
• Interpersonal skills and flexibility are of great importance since the work is done in a research group.
Weighting of qualifications
• Ph.D. in Physics or Astrophysics or equivalent.
• The applicant ability to conduct research within the described area, with demonstrated skills to generate new ideas and innovate.
The position is limited to two years full time and located in Växjö, Sweden. The contract can start immediately. Participation of women in research is encouraged.
