Jönköping University is a young professional-oriented university characterised by a high degree of internationalization, an entrepreneurial spirit and extensive collaboration with the community at large.
It is one of three Swedish private, non-profit institutions of higher education with the right to award doctoral degrees.
The university is organised as a non-profit corporate group with Jönköping University Foundation as the parent organisation and six wholly owned subsidiaries. Education, research and commissions are conducted through four schools: The School of Health Sciences, the School of Education and Communication, Jönköping International Business School and the School of Engineering. The University has about 10,000 students, 800 employees and collaborates with 350 international partner universities and 800 host companies.
Organisation
The number of externally funded research projects at Jönköping University is increasing. As a result, the university is now creating a function together with Region Jönköpings län, which will support these research activities at our four schools.
The new role as Research Grants Officer will belong to the finance department at the University Services, which is the university's joint service company. University Services is responsible for the university's research library and for providing all essential support operations such as communication, marketing, studies and career guidance, as well as accounting and human resource administration.
Working tasks
In your role as Research Grants Officer you will support the process of applying for external research funding from several funding agencies. Thereby, you will contribute to the implementation of Jönköping University’s research strategy.
Essential duties:
- Support the research boards and individual staff in identifying funding opportunities and advise on the planning and writing of funding applications.
- Monitor on a university level the outcomes of the applications, in collaboration with the Vice President of JU and Associate Deans of Research.
- Liaise with external organisations, such as Vinnova, the EU Commission, research councils and charities to identify new funding streams and research opportunities
- Coordinate JU activities aiming at influencing new research funding programmes, nationally and on EU level.
- Liaise closely with the university finance department and the Schools, e.g. in the area of reporting procedures and consistency and simplification of these.
You will also support project planning support for University-wide initiatives, as well as initiating and executing of courses and information activities related to external funding and project management.
Furthermore, you will act as contact person within the Swedish University network of EU research coordinators (EUFOU Group)
Qualifications
As an applicant, the following qualifications are mandatory:
- Academic degree on advanced level within at least one of the JU areas. A valued merit are postgraduate studies.
- Relevant 3-5 years’ work experience from a similar role and a track record of delivering research and innovation proposals and profound experience in scientific proposal writing.
- Both experience, as well as proven knowledge, in the management of EU framework programme projects, as well as experience working on multiple research projects simultaneously.
- Excellent writing and communication skills in English.
