Research Lecturer in Materials Physics

Arbetsbeskrivning

Faculty of Technology and Science invites applications for invites applications for Research Lecturer in Materials Physics 100% , Reference POE 2007/97 A temporary post-doctoral position with strong focus on research is available in the Department of Physics and Electrical Engineering at Karlstad University in Sweden.Polymer Solar Cells The research project will focus on the fabrication and characterization of conjugated polymer blend solar cells.Thin films of these polymers are prepared by a solution-based process, making it possible to blend other molecules or nano-particles into the film and influence its composition, structure, and properties. The research project aims at investigating how the structure and properties of the film affect the solar cell performance. The main methods that will be used are equipment for fabrication and electrical characterization of the devices, as well as characterization techniques, such as scanning probe microscopy (AFM, STM), absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy, photoelectron spectroscopy, and SIMS.The project will also include the building up of some new equipment. The researcher is expected to act as a liaison with industrial partners coupled to the research activities and will have the opportunity to participate in the supervision of Ph.D.students.Most of the experimental work will be carried out at Karlstad University, even though specific tasks may be done at other laboratories that we cooperate with in or outside of Sweden.Post of commence As soon as possible by agreement.Length of employment The post is a temporary full-time position and will last maximum 18 months. The project is funded by the Swedish Energy Agency.Extension would be a subject to additional external funding.Qualifications and assessment criteria For this position a doctoral degree is required in Physics, Physics engineering, or in a for this project relevant discipline.Experience in research with specific focus on polymer or organic device fabrication (preferably solar cells) and characterization is a strong requirement.Relevant practical experience with solution chemistry, vacuum coating systems, software for data collection, and semiconductor electronics are important assets.Demonstrated ability to act as a liaison between academic and industrial partners and experience with supervision of research projects are advantages.Selection is on the basis of individual assessment.Application Your application should contain a cover letter, detailing your motivation to apply for this position, and the following attachments: CV, list of publications, copies of certificates of education and other merits, description of other relevant experience, list of courses taken, including grades and dates, information about your language skills, as well as reference letters or the contact details of two reference persons.for arrival no later than November 15th, 2007.Application with Reference POE 2007/97 should be sent to Office for Personel and Finance S-651 88 KARLSTAD at the latest 2007-11-15.
