To our R&D and Innovation organisation, we are looking for an experienced researcher and skilled team leader. You will lead a fantastic team of fellow researchers/Engineers and you will have a chance to really break new ground and work with research in its true sense - finding the sustainable future technical solutions!

About the position

As Research Manager, you will execute the long-term plans for research and manage a team of passionate scientists and engineers working on fundamental research, analysis development as well as technology development of conceptual products and systems according to Ecophon and Saint-Gobain Ceilings’ strategy. You will be part of the R&D and Innovation Management Group and you will drive the continuous competence and personal development of your team, which is a strong pillar of our R&D strategy. The role requires extensive networking and our research activities are tightly connected to many external partners, such as universities, Saint-Gobain Research Centers or suppliers, and you will be responsible for coordination and monitoring of these various activities. At Ecophon and Saint-Gobain Ceilings, we aim for an agile and collaborative work environment, and you will interact and work closely with other departments within R&D and Innovation, as well as other functions, such as Marketing and Operations, and our production sites.

You will lead and develop the staff within Research and actively work with competence development, recruitment, well-being, work environment, safety and efficiency.

The position is a permanent position based at Saint-Gobain Ecophon AB, our main company within the Ceilings activity, in Hyllinge, Sweden and it includes some travelling in Europe. You will be reporting to the R&D and Innovation Director.



Profile

We are looking for an experienced researcher with a PhD in material-oriented science. Surface chemistry, Mechanics, Building Physics and Acoustics are also relevant areas. You need to show strong leadership and people management skills and previous experience in a similar role is appreciated but not mandatory. You are a strategic generalist but at the same time you are a “doer” who can make ideas come true, and you have the ability to transform research into real products. You feel comfortable presenting reports and findings at various levels. You possess excellent written and spoken English skills.

As a person, you are a true and genuine networker, able to build long-term relationships. You must show strong communication and presentation skills. You work in a structured and organized manner but you are also open to change and new ways of working. Since you will be interacting with many people, we appreciate open-minded and easy-going personalities. In brief; a humble, smart, ambitious and forward-looking person.
