Bring Hope Humanitarian Foundation is seeking a Research Officer to support a new project in Sweden that will enable language teachers and other educators to effectively integrate history in the language training of refugees and migrants.
Context
Bring Hope Humanitarian Foundation was founded in 2015 in Malmö, Sweden and Northern Iraq. Bring Hope was created as a response to the increased need for aid for millions of displaced people who were forced to migrate into Iraqi Kurdistan attempting to flee from the ISIS incursion, its subsequent torture, and resulting starvation -- arriving any way possible, many on foot. Since our inception, we have expanded our operations to include durable development programmes run on the ground in Northern Iraq, and delivered aid to countries across the Middle East, Asia and Africa. Furthermore, Bring Hope Humanitarian Foundation focuses on bettering the wellness, health and education of refugees, Internally Displaced People (IDP) and the most vulnerable populations all over the world.
The purpose of the post Research Officer-intern is to conduct a high quality desk research on existing programs or practices that integrate history education in the language training or any other curriculum related to the integration of immigrants and refugees in Sweden. This research will provide the basis for preparing guidelines for a national report/policy paper on how history education can positively influence the integration process among the immigrants and refugees in Sweden.
Job Description
Provide research on existing integration processes, languages, and other history courses/programmes offered to immigrants and refugees in Sweden to identify how historical aspects or lessons are included in the integration process
Collect information about the official legislations and policies on immigrants/refugees integration.
Find and analyse qualitative and quantitative data of the integration process of immigrants and refugees in Sweden
Collect information on the current integration, language and other programmes and courses provided or funded officially by the state and private sector for newly immigrants and refugees
Explore the role of the civil society organizations in Sweden in relation to the integration processes of immigrants and refugees.
Contribute to prepare a brief National Report in English.
Requirements:
The Successful candidate must have:
Batchelor degree or higher level education on any of the following disciplines: Political Science, Social Science, International Relations, Migration, History, or Education
A broad knowledge of history, culture, social norms of Sweden
Good knowledge of the migration policy and history and integration in Sweden.
Attention to detail
Experience in doing researching and literature reviewing (irrespective of academic and work related)
High proficiency in both Swedish and English languages.

Contract period
Starting as soon as possible, the intern contract period will initially last for 4 months, with the high chance of an extension depending on the candidate’s profile and available funding. The post is available for both part-time and full-time set up.
