Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences Department of Forest Ecology and Management, Umeå Research position (50%) The department of Forest Ecology and Management is a new dynamic department within the Faculty of Forest Sciences at SLU in Umeå.The department has about 70 staff member out of which 13 are professors.Research and teaching is done within the fields of forest ecology, forest management and forest soils.The Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Umeå (SLU) share campus with Umeå University. In order to apply techniques that preserve both low and high frequency information in tree-rings knowledge on climate variability reconstructions is favourable. The work involves collection of samples from protected forests in the county of Norrbotten and the applicants must therefore have experience of sampling from live trees, dead trees and submerged logs in remote areas.The applicant should have experience and interest on working on human impact on ecosystem structure, function and ecosystem processes.The presence in Umeå will also include teaching in dendrochronology at the department therefore teaching experience at different levels a merit.
