We are now recruiting a Research Scientist - Histology to join the Cell and Molecular Pharmacology (CMP) team within the Early Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolic (CVRM) disease area in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Early CVRM is one of 3 main therapeutic research areas within AstraZeneca that deliver candidate drugs into late-stage clinical development. The CMP team delivers key data based on histology, imaging, biomarker, molecular- and bioassay automation to projects across the Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolism disease areas.
As a Research Scientist you will play a key role in supporting histology work for projects in Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolic Diseases. Collaboration is essential for successful delivery of drug projects, and you will work along with our 3 senior histologists and interact closely with pathologists/scientists/teams from different functions within AstraZeneca. Our group works with novel techniques, such as AI-based histology analysis and fluorescent multiplexing.
What you'll do
We are looking for an individual with a strong background in histology. As a research scientist you will:

Provide histology support for projects in Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolic Diseases.

Support development of histology methods.
*
Maintain accurate tissue, block and slide records
*
Independently run experiments.
*
Ensure that your work is performed and documented in accordance with AstraZeneca standards
*
Support and work collaboratively with other scientists in our unit and with different functions within AstraZeneca.
*
Contribute proactively to a vibrant and innovative working environment.
Essential for the role
*
BSc/MSc degree or equivalent academic merits and experience within histology.
*
Excellent knowledge of histological techniques such as tissue processing, embedding, microtome-sectioning, staining and immunohistochemistry.
*
Good written and oral communication skills in English including presentation skills.
*
Good collaboration skills.
Desirable for the role
*
Experience in Cardiovascular, Renal and/or Metabolic Diseases.
*
Experience with cryo-sectioning; automated immunohistochemical staining equipment such as Ventana, Bond and Intellipath; automated image capturing such as 3D Histech or Aperio
