Arbetsbeskrivning
IFE has a strong research activity in multiphase flow modelling and experimentation and a record of accomplishment of developing the leading software for designing and analysing hydrocarbon multiphase transport systems.
The Flow Technology department operates 4 laboratories and regularly builds custom laboratories for industry partners. The customer base is historically from the oil industry, but in recent years the focus is shifting towards CO2 and Hydrogen. We also work in fields ranging from process technology, multiphase flow of oil and gas, reservoir and well simulations to simulations of flow in the human body and simulation models of radiation treatment.
Tasks:
Main tasks for this role are planning and running experiments on our Well Flow Loop, a multiphase flow loop designed to run with complex mixtures of gas, oil, water and solids like sand, wax and gas hydrates. You will also work with development and testing of new instruments and data analysis and implementation in models.
As part of our experimental team, you will work in close collaboration with industry partners and other research institutes. Recently, we are also receiving increased interest in our state-of-the-art CO2 flow facillity FALCON.
Qualifications:
Excellent knowledge in fluid flow (mechanical/chemical engineering), preferably at PhD level, mathematical modelling and/or applied mathematics and a strong interest in experimental work are required. Experience with laser based diagnostic techniques (PIV, PTV, LDA, PDA, LIF) is highly desired, as well as a background from sand and erosion experiments and modelling. We are highly dependent on our in-house designed x-ray tomography diagnostic tools for multiphase flows and interest in such techniques is desired.
Basic knowledge within petroleum technology as well as industrial experience from multiphase transport/Flow Assurance is desirable but not required.
Who are we looking for:
The Department depends on tight bonds with our industrial customers and partners and we are therefore looking for a person with the right attitude towards working with industrial customers.
- Independent person.
- High degree of initiative and creativity.
- Solution oriented.
- Enjoy cooperation with colleagues and industrial customers.
Since experimental / laboratory work is one of the main tasks, a high level of flexibility is required.
We offer:
- Work with the people that invented modern multiphase flow modeling
- Exciting and challenging tasks
- Participation in a leading international research team
- Social benefits including pension, life insurance, and accident insurance
- Competitive salary
We place great emphasis on your personal suitability for the position. IFE is subject to the National Security Act, and the candidate must be able to pass a background check and must be able to obtain security clearance and authorization.
Research for a better future:
IFE conducts research for a better future. Since 1948, we have been a frontrunner in international energy research. We contribute to new solutions in renewable energy, petroleum and industry. We develop zero-emission transport solutions, digital systems and ground-breaking cancer medicine. IFE develops new solutions for the industry and public sector in over 30 countries. IFE is host to the international OECD NEA Halden Projects. We are about 650 employees and the annual turnover is about NOK 1 billion. Read more about IFE at www.ife.no/en
