The Department for product and production development is leading in methods and tools for developing products and production systems. The interaction between the research disciplines, such as industrial design, human factors, product and production development, aims at reducing the time gap between customer need identification and final product while achieving added value for the customer. The department is a key player in the Areas of Advance Production, Transport and Energy, and with strong links to education and research in the manufacturing sector, through for instance the Wingquist Laboratory WINN Excellence Centre. The department has around 100 employees.
Chalmers University and Chalmers division of Product Development conducts research in close collaboration with our industrial partners in the automotive and aerospace industry. We offer you to join a research team heavily involved in the development of future tools and methods for digital product and production development.

Information about the research group
The Systems Engineering Design group focus on understanding and supporting manufacturing industries with improved ability to use product family design, platform based development, knowledge engineering, set based engineering and combine this with engineering modeling and simulation support. Research is conducted in tight collaboration with manufacturing industry, primarily in automotive, aerospace and space industry both nationally and internationally. The research group is responsible for platform based research within the Wingquist laboratory.
Major responsibilities
We are now seeking a researcher to strengthen the Systems Engineering Design research group in understanding and developing next generation product development modeling and decision support. The research position is focused on the following areas:
• Systems Engineering
• Multi Disciplinary Design Engineering and Optimization
• Value Driven Engineering development
• Product Architecture modeling and design
As a researcher you will combine active participation and leadership in research projects, assist in supervising research students and be a core member in developing the research profile. All though research is the primary responsibility, participation in education can occur.
Position summary
Full-time temporary employment as research specialist
Qualifications
• PhD in engineering discipline, relevant for the research position
• Experience, interest and skills in programming, modeling and simulation tools in minimum 2 of the 3 categories of 1) CAD, CAE, KBE 2) Information structure/workflow modeling (I-Sight, Sys-ML, Python, Matlab or similar ) and 3) Java, C++, or similar
• Experience from teaching and pedagogic experience is a merit
