Department of Forest Ecology and Management
The Forest Vegetation Ecology group seeks a researchassistant to assist with organization and coordination of its lab. The group consists of four principal investigators (Michael Gundale, Marie-Charlotte Nilsson, Paul Kardol, and Maja Sundqvist), and approximately 8-12 post-docs and/or PhD students employed at any given time. The lab uses a wide range of tools, including instruments to measure plants, soils, and soil microbial communities. The position will coordinate activities of the multiple lab users, and help maintain a functional work environment for all group members. The department includes about 100 people of which 11 are professors. Our mission is to advance the understanding of forest ecosystem processes and to progress the principles of forest ecosystem management. The main supervisor for the position will be Michael Gundale, with co-supervision by Marie-Charlotte Nilsson, Paul Kardol, and Maja Sundqvist.

Duties:
50% of the position will be dedicated to maintaining equipment in operating order, maintaining and developing methodology, ordering equipment and supplies, maintaining order and cleanliness in the lab, updating lab safety protocols, and coordinating the activity of multiple lab users. The remaining 50% of the position will involve participating in research projects, for example helping collect data in the field and/or processing samples in the lab.

Qualifications:
We seek a motivated and enthusiastic individual with good social and organization skills. The candidate must have completed an Bsc level degree or higher. We desire an applicant that is fluent in both Swedish and English. A driver’s license is desirable. The ideal candidate should have some background in chemistry or ecology or other environmental science field. Previous work in a lab environment is highly desirable

Temporary employment, 12 months, with possibility for prolongation

Extent:
100%, (also possibility for a partial work time if desirable).
