Arbetsbeskrivning

The Institute of Biomedicine is involved in both research and education. In both of these areas, we focus on fundamental knowledge of the living cell – what it consists of, how it works, how its function is directed by the genetic material, and how it interacts with various kinds of micro-organisms. Using this knowledge, we try to elucidate the causes of diseases, and find new ways to diagnose and treat them.

The Institute is composed of the following four departments:

• The Department of Infectious Diseases
• The Department of Microbiology and Immunology
• The Department of Medical Biochemistry and Cell Biology
• The Department of Laboratory Medicine

At present, the institute has about 360 employees and approximately 440 million SEK in total assets

Job assignments
The research position is primarily to develop the bioinformatics part of a project focusing on mechanisms that regulate initiation, growth and survival of neuroblastoma/ALK-positive cancers and their microenvironment. The researcher will use a wide range of bioinformatics analyses, that will be integrated and complimented with genetic, cell biology and in vivo models in wet-lab experiments to clarify ALK-driven signaling events both during developmental processes and disease. The applicant will work with high-throughput sequencing datasets, principally single cell and RNA-Seq datasets as well as total and phosphor-proteomics datasets. The researcher will also be involved in developing single cell sequencing methodology and analyses in neuroblastoma models for validation of new therapeutic strategies.

Qualifications
PhD in a relevant subject. The applicant should have experience with bioinformatics analysis of RNA-Seq and single cell RNA datasets. Experience with protein modeling and mouse models would also be an advantage.

Employment
The employment is limited (temporary) for 24 months and full-time with placement at the Institute of Biomedicine. First day of employment as agreed.
