A research position is available at the Mucins in Infection and Cancer Group at department of Medical Chemistry, Institute of Biomedicine, Gothenburg Sweden. Our group investigates the role of mucins during host defense against bacteria, and the biological function of changes in mucosal mucin expression and glycosylation associated with disease. Job assignments
The work involves being responsible for moleyl biological and bioinformatics analysis concerning whole genome sequencing and transcriptome analysis of pathogenic bacteria with a focus on Helicobacter pylori and Helicobacter suis. The project also includes the development of experimental and bioinformatics analysis methods for studies of host-microbial interaction in the gastrointestinal tract.
Qualifications
A doctorate in biomedicine, molecular biology or similar is a requirement. Experience in molecular biological work with DNA / RNA as well as method development in Next Generation Sequencing, both whole genome sequencing and RNA seq, are also required. Experience of bioinformatics analysis of bacterial whole genome sequencing data and gene expression data as well as interpretation of this is very important and includes working in unix environment, as well as statistical analysis in R. Knowledge in microbiology, and specifically Helicobacter pylori pathobiology is meritorious.
Employment
The employment is limited (temporary) for 7 months and full-time with placement at the Institute of Biomedicine. First day of employment as agreed.
