Arbetsbeskrivning
The University of Gothenburg tackles society’s challenges with diverse knowledge. 49 000 students and 6 400 employees make the university a large and inspiring place to work and study. Strong research and attractive study programmes attract scientists and students from around the world. With new knowledge and new perspectives, the University contributes to a better future.
At the Institute of Biomedicine we study the living cell – what it consists of, how it works, how its function is directed by the genetic material, and how it interacts with various kinds of microorganisms. Using this knowledge, we try to elucidate the causes of diseases, and find new ways to diagnose and treat disorders.

Responsibilities include PhD and postdoc supervision, teaching and administrative tasks.
The work will include studies of DNA replication in several different model systems, including E. coli, S. cerevisiae, D. melanogaster, mouse and human cells, as well as patient tissue to describe mechanisms that initiate, elongate and terminate DNA replication. Furthermore, the position aims to investigate how ribonucleotide incorporation into DNA contribute to genome maintenance. The researcher will use a wide range of techniques such as genetics, cell biology including biochemical assays of DNA replication, next-generation sequencing, library construction methods to genome-wide detect ribonucleotides into DNA, and bioinformatics.
Qualifications
PhD within Life Science or Medicine is required. The candidate should have a solid scientific background, with a strong publication track record. Independent funding from major granting agencies such as the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet) is a strong merit.
