Kort beskrivning av företaget:
The University of Gothenburg tackles society's challenges with diverse knowledge. 37 000 students and 6 000 employees make the university a large and inspiring place to work and study. Strong research and attractive study programmes attract scientists and students from around the world. With new knowledge and new perspectives, the University contributes to a better future.
Beskrivning av arbetsuppgifter:
The Institute of Biomedicine is involved in both research and education. In both of these areas, we focus on fundamental knowledge of the living cell - what it consists of, how it works, how its function is directed by the genetic material, and how it interacts with various kinds of microorganisms. Using this knowledge, we try to elucidate the causes of diseases, and find new ways to diagnose and treat them. The Institute is composed of the following five departments: . The Department of Infectious Diseases . The Department of Microbiology and Immunology . The Department of Pathology and Genetics . The Department of Clinical Chemistry and Transfusion Medicine . The Department of Medical Biochemistry and Cell Biology. At present, the institute has about 350 employees and approximately 290 million SEK in total assets. The prospective candidate is expected to have experience with cell-based assays and pharmecogenetic screens to identify/develop novel drug targets. The described project includes in-vivo investigations; hence the candidates are expected to have specialty certification and experience in laboratory animal science. Understanding of various mouse models of blood and solid tumours are expected. Applicant is expected to have a through experience in in-vivo experimentations including 1) designing the experiments, 2) handling and drug administration (Sub. Q, IP, Oral), 3) syngenic and xenograph transplantation of tumours in mice. Hands on experience with handling and processing of patient derived tumour material is an advantage. Experience with invivo imaging equipment (s) and reagents, harvesting and processing of tumour samples is a requirement.
