We are looking for experienced and creative researchers to engage in the development of current and future mobile networks' generations, used by billions of people. This opportunity is to join our Ericsson Research team working with the 3rd Generation Partnership project (3GPP) in Core Networks, driving Ericsson’s strategies in 5G/6G standardization!
The 3GPP working groups CT3 and CT4 are focusing on interworking with external networks & policy and charging control, and the design and specification of protocols for HTTP-based APIs accessing network function services, respectively. The groups are among other things responsible for specification and development in the Circuit Switch & Packet Switch domains, exposure and provisioning of services inside the 3GPP network, and standardizing the interface between control plane and user plane functions in 5G Core.

This position will be based in Lund, Sweden, as part of the Cloud Systems and Platforms group, reporting to the Research Leader.
You will
Act as a back office researcher, working with contributions for 3GPP standardization meetings
Define and test service APIs and interfaces
Perform pre-studies and experiments resulting in standards contributions
Create new technical solutions and protect them with Intellectual Property Rights
Represent Ericsson in external fora such as standardization, university collaborations, and customer meetings


To be successful in the role you must have
PhD, MSc. degree or equivalent in a relevant technical field
Experience in working with 3GPP standardization
Experience from the 5G Core Network area
Outstanding collaboration, communication and innovation skills
Excellent proficiency in English, both written and spoken
Analytical thinking with a healthy dose of creativity

A strong background in Core Network, including service-based architecture and main network functions is an asset.
