På institutionen för biomedicin bedrivs forskning och undervisning inom prekliniska och kliniska medicinska ämnen. Institutionen är indelad i följande fem avdelningar: infektionssjukdomar, mikrobiologi och immunologi, patologi och genetik, klinisk kemi och transfusionsmedicin, samt medicinsk kemi och cellbiologi. För närvarande har institutionen cirka 350 medarbetare och cirka 290 Mkr i omsättning
Beskrivning av arbetsuppgifter:
The department is now recruiting a talanted and and devoted researcher with a genuine interest in body composition, adipose tissue, metabolism/endocrinology, normal physiology/pathology during pregnancy, and laboratory work. The successful candidate will have a central role in the group producing, collecting, evaluting comprehensive information regarding the metabolic and hormonal status, at the whole body and the adipose tissue level, of the subjects included in our studies. The candidate will be in close contact with all involved project collaborators. Main activities include: - Laboratory work (application/optimization of protocols for analysis of adipose tissue and adipocytes) - Contact with/guidance of participants in the PONCH study at scheduled examinations - Sampling of subcutaneous adipose tissue (needle biopsy technique) - Computerized image analysis (microscopy), using e.g. the software Tissue Studio - Statistical analysis - Writing articles for international and Swedish scientific journals - Active participation in the group meetings/congress tavels - Organization of the lab including ordering - Maintenance of equipment/instruments - Writing grant applications
Beskrivning av kvalifikationer:
A person is qualified for appointment if the applicant holds a relevant PhD and has documented skills within the specific research field. The successful candidate is expected to be able to work independently as well in collaboration. The position requires documented experience from hands-on laboratory work and detailed knowledge in the field of human adipose tissue and adipocytes - needle biopsy sampling of human adipose tissue, adipose tissue incubation, microscopy, computerized image analysis including application of the software Tissue Studio, immunohistochemistry. Fluency in writing and speaking English is also required. A medical degree is a merit.
