SLU?s mission is ?to develop the understanding, management and sustainable use of biological natural resources? which adheres to several of the United Nations? Millennium Development Goals and further to the post 2015 agenda. SLU?s Department of Energy and Technology specializes in systems with biological and technological interaction, with expertise in logistics and transport, environmental system analysis and modelling and simulation, ergonomics and waste management, as well as in statistics areas that form strong complements to the specific logistics analysis. The Logistics and Transport Division is dedicated to advancing research and education in agricultural and food chain logistics. Significant experience and knowledge have been achieved in this area. Research tools based on operations research, model development and simulation, chain management, logistics and communication technologies and tools have been developed and utilized in the research.

Arbetsuppgifter: We are looking for a highly-motivated candidate who will be responsible for data collection, analysis and writing report and scientific publications. The candidate will work on research projects on the development and management of logistics and supply chains with emphasis on food, agriculture, and city logistics. The projects are multidisciplinary addressing sustainability issues i.e. addressing environmental, economic and social issues. Aiming at promoting sustainable development, our research activities require demonstrated ability of system modeling and analysis with consideration of environment (addressing energy, emission and related issues) and economic efficiencies and social satisfaction.
Kvalifikationer: Experience in research and outreach/publication at international level is essential. Candidates must have attained the academic level of PhD, have a sound report, publication, and proposal writing ability. Fluency in written and spoken English is required. She/he will also have a strong will to develop research and teaching initiatives within the Logistics and Transport sector. Experiences in modeling and analyzing logistics chains and GIS based analysis are advantageous.
