Department of Aquatic Sciences and Assessment
The Department of Aquatic Sciences and Assessment (www.slu.se/aquatic-sciences) is a competence center for applied environmental science and has national responsibility for assessing the conditions of Swedish surface waters with respect to water chemistry, pollution and aquatic biota. The department is part of SLU’s Soil-Water-Environment Center and has about 130 employees. The research focuses on geochemical and hydrological processes, aquatic ecology and biodiversity, as well as environmental chemistry and ecotoxicology. The department houses well-equipped laboratories for chemical and biological analyses of environmental samples.
Duties:
You will work in a research group that study how various kind of land use, such as forestry operations and wetland restoration, affect the mobilization and methylation of mercury in aquatic and terrestrial environments. We are looking for a candidate who can contribute to ongoing projects within the research group, by planning and implementing fieldwork, compiling and evaluating data and contributing to the reporting in scientific publications.
Qualifications:
The applicant should hold a PhD in environmental assessment, limnology or equivalent, with documented postdoctoral experience in environmental assessment research. Emphasis is placed on the applicant's ability and experience to independently plan and conduct fieldwork. Experiences of having carried out own research projects, as a project leader (and main applicant), is a merit. The applicant is expected to take own initiatives and work independently, but also to have a good ability to collaborate and work in groups. Excellent skills in written and oral communication in English is a requirement. Driving license is required.
