Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences Department of Plant Biology and Forest Genetics, Uppsala, Researcher / Group Leader (forskare) in Genetics (genetik) at the Department of Plant Biology and Forest Genetics, Uppsala.www.slu.se, www.slu.se.bioc.slu.se The Department of Plant Biology and Forest Genetics has about 60 employees, active within research areas focused on plant development, diversity and defence (www.vbsg.slu.se).The Department belongs to Uppsala BioCenter (bioc.slu.se), providing an excellent scientific environment combining competence in plant biology with forest mycology and pathology, microbiology, food science, molecular biology and chemistry and a high quality infrastructure.The BioCenter departments will move to a new building centrally located on the campus in the beginning of 2011.A position as researcher in Genetics is available at the Department of Plant Biology and Forest Genetics, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Uppsala, Sweden.Subject area: The subject area of genetics includes studies of plant population genetics or quantitative genetics with relevance for agriculture or forestry.Duties: Develop own research projects within the subject area and conduct research in close collaboration with researchers at the department.The appointed researcher is expected to develop and lead an internationally recognized and externally funded research program in genetics.The appointed researcher is also expected to supervise PhD students and teach genetics or related topics at the undergraduate and graduate levels.Qualifications: Applicants should hold a PhD degree, or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctorate, in Biology.The applicant should have documented experience in genetic sciences.Applicants should also have been appointed Associate Professor or have equivalent qualifications.Assessment criteria: Particular emphasis will be placed on scientific qualifications within the subject area.In ranking eligible applicants for this position the main focus will be on scientific competence.Scientific merits within the field of genetics, documented via publication in international scientific journals, will be taken into account.Research experience in highly qualified laboratories, as well as a documented ability of independence in research will be recognized as important merits.The capacity to utilize the large quantity of molecular data is of particular relevance for the subject area.Emphasis will also be placed on the applicant s ability to generate externally funded research programs.In addition to this, the degree of pedagogic, administrative and other skills of importance for the subject and tasks of the position will be taken into account.In this recruitment the University will give priority to the applicant who, after a holistic assessment of competence and skills, is judged, alongside documented qualifications, to possess the greatest potential for performing and further developing the relevant duties and for advancing the subject area.This is a full-time, permanent position, partially based on counter financing from external funds, with a probationary employment period of 6 months.We welcome your application marked with ref no 3740/210.Please submit your application to the Registrar of SLU, P.O.Compl advt: www.slu.se/lediga-job
