MAX IV is a national large-scale research laboratory providing scientists from Sweden and the rest of the world with instruments for research in areas such as materials science, structural biology, chemistry and nanotechnology. Fully developed it will receive more than 2 000 scientists annually. 200 people are currently employed at the MAX IV Laboratory.

Tasks:

• Participating in the commissioning and operation of the two storage rings at MAX IV Laboratory
• As a specialist in collective effects, push the performance of the two rings to best possible level.

A daily overview of the beam stability at high currents is mandatory
• Collective particle dynamics calculations and experiments for the existing rings
• Be the deputy subsystem owner of two bunch-by-bunch feedback systems, in conjunction with passive Landau cavities
• Impedance calculations of various vacuum components
• 20 % of the time may be used for research related to the present rings as well as to future upgrades

Qualifications:

• PhD in accelerator physics or similar
• Demonstrated experience in theoretical modelling and experimental studies of collective particle beam dynamics in electron storage rings
• The candidate must be able to work both independently, and to work in collaboration with engineering, operation and physics experts
