Arbetsbeskrivning
The research at the division of Solid State Physics is focused around different aspects of semiconductor physics, ranging from materials science to quantum physics, to different applications.
The division also leads NanoLund, the major interdisciplinary research environment within nanoscience and nanotechnology at Lund University. Lund Nano Lab is a central key facility for fabrication of material and devices on the nanoscale. The division is also heavily involved in the undergraduate education, especially within the “Engineering Nanoscience” program.
For more than a decade, a main focus of our research has been one-dimensional semiconductor structures, so called nanowires, including epitaxial growth of nanowires, fundamental properties studied with transport physics and optical physics, and more applied nanoelectronics. Specific subject description
Within this project basic as well as applied research is conducted related to III–V semiconductor nanowires by means of a method, where the wires grow free flying directly in the gas phase, so-called Aerotaxy. The research is primarily directed towards development of the growth process in order to expand the parameter space in terms of wire quality, shape and form, doping, and materials. In parallel with the process development, the hardware is being developed for improvement regarding, e.g., direct feedback through in situ-analysis. To support the project, the research project also contains advanced materials analysis, in particular using electron microscopy, as well as with other types of materials and device characterization.
Work duties
The main duties involved is to conduct research within the subject area. The researcher is expected to interact with the master students and the PhD students in the research group and contribute to meetings and seminars.
Qualification requirements
Applicants must have:
- A PhD or equivalent research qualification within physics or equivalent with focus on growth and characterization of nano- and microstructures.
- Very good oral and written proficiency in English.
- At least two years of postdoctoral research experience.
- Extensive experience with epitaxial methods for nanowire growth, including aerosol-based nanofabrication methods, in the In-Ga-As-P materials system.
- Ability to independently design and carry out research projects related to development of nanowire materials.
The research is to a large extent interdisciplinary, and a broad competence profile and experiences from relevant areas of physics and nanoscience are of special value. Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, how the applicant’s experience and skills strengthen ongoing research within the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.
Instructions on how to apply
Applications must contain a covering letter in which applicants describe themselves and their particular research interests, including contributions to the described research project (maximum 2 pages). Applications must also include a CV, publication list, a copy of the applicant’s doctoral thesis, contact details of at least two references, copies of grade certificates, and any other documents that the applicant wishes to refer to. Applicants are also required to answer the job specific questions in the final step of the application process.
Terms of employment
Temporary employment for 8 months.
Lunds universitet välkomnar sökande med olika bakgrund och erfarenheter. Vi ser jämställdhet och mångfald som en styrka och tillgång.
