We are looking for a researcher in environmental toxicology for a permanent position in the Man Technology Environment (MTM) Research Centre at the School of Science and Technology, Örebro University.

Background
The MTM centre at Örebro University focuses on applied research on chemical compounds of different origin in the environment and their relations to sustainable development. The centre is increasing research directed towards development and application of new approach methods in toxicological characterisation of chemicals and particles. The centre has obtained several large grants and we are therefore looking for a researcher in the research area with practical experience in project management and coordination.

Duties and responsibilities
The researcher will be a key person in the environmental toxicology research group at MTM. The main duty is to manage and conduct projects concerning toxicological hazards of plastics-related chemicals, emerging environmental pollutants and nanoparticles in collaboration with international academic research groups and industry partners. The successful candidate will lead development and application of high content in vitro bioassays to assess cellular phenotype effects and modes of action, both for use in toxicant discovery and for hazard assessment. The position is based on a collaboration between the research environments MTM and the Inflammatory Response and Infection Susceptibility Center (iRISC) at Örebro University. The tasks also include coordination of the projects and formulation of new research projects in the area. Other responsibilities include management of the environmental toxicology laboratory and dissemination activities.

Qualifications
To be eligible for a position as a researcher the successful candidate should have a PhD degree in (eco)toxicology or an equivalent degree.

Assessment criteria
Documented practical experience and skills in toxicity testing of nanoparticles and chemicals using cell culture systems are required. Experience of high content phenotypical cellular profiling methods is required. Experience in management of research projects is important. The successful candidate should be thorough, ambitious, positive, highly motivated and have an ability to manage projects, cooperate, as well as to work independently. Proficiency in written and spoken English is a requirement.

The position is a permanent position (100%). The salary depends on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience in relation to the tasks.
