Researcher in Cellulosic Fiber Development

Arbetsbeskrivning

The Fiber Development unit at RISE is seeking a researcher with expertise in cellulose/pulp and paper chemistry and technology to support the area of man-made cellulosic fiber development.

At RISE we are developing innovative processes for dissolution and regeneration of cellulose and other biobased materials to enable new sustainable man-made fibers, particularly for textile application. We have Sweden's largest laboratory for fiber development, with strong expertise in polymer chemistry, fiber and textile technology.

About the role
You will be working in a team of experts contributing to research projects arranged with industrial and academic partners. The role is hands-on and involves experimental research at lab and pilot scales focused on fiber spinning process development. You will assemble/build experimental setups for wet spinning and/or solution blown, perform studies on cellulose solubility, solution filterability, extrusion, coagulation, surfactant adsorption on fiber surfaces, cellulose cross-linking etc. You will also be able to contribute by initiating and leading the projects and assignments, publishing and presenting results at conferences, developing intellectual property etc.

The position is full-time and is based in our site in Mölndal (Göteborg area).

About you

- Ph.D. in materials science and engineering, fiber and polymer science, polymer chemistry, textile technology or related areas.
- Expertise in cellulose/pulp and paper chemistry and technology. Knowledge of viscose and Lyocell spinning processes is an advantage.
- Strong interest in the development of processes for man-made cellulose fiber production.
- Ability of working with tools and various scale equipment.
