Arbetsbeskrivning
The School of Science and Technology is seeking a researcher in Computer Science with direction Artificial Intelligence for a permanent position-
Subject area
The position is in Computer Science.
Background
The researcher will work at the center for Applied Autonomous Sensor Systems (AASS) at Örebro University, in the context of the Humane-AI-net EU H2020 project. AASS carries out multi-disciplinary research at the intersection of robotics and artificial intelligence. The main roles of AASS in Humane-AI-net include research in human-in-the-loop AI and robotics systems, and the establishment of a virtual AI laboratory for researchers and industry.
Duties and responsibilities
The researcher will contribute to the scientific development of the AASS center in general, and in particular to the performance of the work in Humane-AI-net by developing methods for human-in-the-loop AI systems, especially planning and multi-agent systems, and by helping to develop a virtual AI laboratory integrated in the European AI on-demand platform to be used by researchers both in industry and in the academy, in close collaboration with other partners in the Humane-AI-net project. The researcher shall spend their working hours mainly on research. The appointment may also include teaching when there is a need within the organization. The share of teaching may not exceed a 20% of a full time post.
Eligibility
Those qualified for the appointment as a researcher are applicants who have obtained a doctoral degree or have a degree from abroad deemed to correspond to a doctoral degree.
It is not necessary to be familiar with the Swedish language, but proficiency in written/spoken English is mandatory.
Assessment criteria
General assessment criteria include good interpersonal skills and an ability to cooperate as well as the ability and suitability required to perform the duties well and to contribute to the future development of the research conducted within the subject.
A good and documented research record is required, together with solid theoretical background in Artificial Intelligence, specifically in the areas of automated planning, observation planning, and multi-agent systems. The researcher must have the ability to design, implement and integrate AI systems, with special emphasis on human-in-the-loop AI systems that interact with non-technical users, for example, in the context of domestic systems of elder care. The researcher must also have a demonstrated ability to work in, and strongly contribute to, international teams. Given the nature of the work, concrete experience in European projects, both in research and management roles, is required.
Previous working experience in both academia and industry, and the proven ability to connect the two, is a plus, as is a demonstrated attitude toward education and science popularization. Familiarity and practical experience with applying AI to physical systems, like robots or sensor systems, is also qualifying. Fluency in written and spoken English is a must.
Information
The position as researcher is a full-time permanent position. The salary depends on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience. Positions announced at Örebro University are, where appropriate, subject to a trial period.
