Department of Ecology
At the Department of Ecology in Uppsala, we conduct research for sustainable forest and agricultural production and efficient biological conservation. We study the influence of land use and climate on animals, plants, soils nutrient status, and greenhouse gas balances. Solutions are sought that will mitigate climate change, preserve threatened species, benefit biological diversity and ecosystem services, and control pests in forest and agricultural landscapes as well as in urban areas. Tasks:
The research project is about the effect of micro climate on saproxylic insects, which are studied in field experiments in different parts of Sweden.The researcher work in the field, with statistical analyses and writing of scientific articles. The work includes an own research project as well as to help Ph D students.
Qualifications:
The applicant should hold a Ph D in ecology, zoology, or a similar relevant subject. Experience from research on the habitat requirements of insect species from a conservation point of view is required, preferably both by field observations and experiments. Experience from work with insects in nature conservation or inventories is a merit. Experience of research on the effect of microclimate on insects (incl. field or lab work) is a merit. Experience from supervision of several undergraduate students or Ph D students is required. The applicant is supposed to be able to take own initiatives and work both independently and in a group. Excellent skills in written and spoken English is a requirement. Driving license is required.
