We are looking for a researcher in Culinary Arts and Meal Science for a fixed-term position at the School of Hospitality Culinary Arts and Meal Science.

Background
Örebro university is a modern, broad-based, and growing university. Currently, 1 500 employees and 17 000 students come to work and study at Örebro university. The position will be located at the School of Hospitality, Culinary Arts and Meals Science at Örebro university. The School provides education for the Hospitality Industry as well as for the public meal sector and the food industry and offers three study programs at bachelor level: Chef and Culinary Arts and Meal Science, Sommelier and Culinary Arts and Meal Science, and Meal Ecologists. The research is organized into three areas: Hospitality, Culinary Arts, and Sensory Science. The position will be connected to the sensory laboratory (SENSE LAB), established as a platform for research and collaboration within the area of sensory science in a context of Gastronomy.

Duties and responsibilities
The tasks include leading research and be part of developing activities at SENSE LAB in collaboration with other research groups within and outside universities as well as with companies and business partners. As part of the research group SENSE LAB, the researcher will initiate and run research projects, apply for external research grants and, together with other researchers in the field, generate scientific publications.

Qualifications
Those qualified for the appointment as a researcher are applicants who have obtained a doctoral degree or have a degree from abroad deemed to correspond to a doctoral degree.

Assessment criteria
The researcher should demonstrate knowledge in sensory science and sensory consumer methods including documented skills in statistical analysis. Experiences and an interest in food science, chemistry and biotechnology related to sensory science is of importance for the position. Experience with sensory analysis and data collection using relevant sensory software’s, as well as working in an interdisciplinary research environment are valuable.

The researcher is autonomous, shows strong and independent problem solving and critical analytical abilities. Furthermore, the researcher can co-operate and possesses personal maturity. Fluent spoken and written command of English is essential.

A general basis for assessment is that the applicant is able to demonstrate the personal qualities required to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities at hand; that they are able to cooperate with other members of staff; and contribute to the development of university operations.

This is a fixed-term part-time position (70 %) for 12 months, placement Campus Grythyttan, Örebro university. At Örebro University, salary depends on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience.
