Arbetsbeskrivning
The School of Science and Technology is seeking a researcher in design for additive manufacturing (DfAM) for a temporary post
Subject area
The position is within the area of Mechanical Engineering.
Background
In our project RoboDAM, financed by Vinnova, we offer a one-year research position working with design for additive manufacturing (DfAM). In particular, the position will focus on design optimization of lightweight components with lattice structures for additive manufacturing.
Duties and responsibilities
The researcher will be involved in the development of our in-house toolbox for generative design using topology optimization and metamodel-based design optimization. The development concerns work within any of the following research areas: topology optimization, metamodel-based design optimization, reliability-based design optimization, machine learning assisted design optimization, numerical homogenization of lattices structures (in particular triply periodic minimal surfaces) and/or simulation/optimization of residual stresses in AM. The work is done in close collaboration with our project partners, in particular Epiroc and Siemens.
Eligibility
Those qualified for the appointment as a researcher are applicants who have obtained a doctoral degree or have a degree from abroad deemed to correspond to a doctoral degree.
Assessment criteria
The candidate must have worked within one or several of the research fields described in section Duties and responsibilities presented above. Preferably the candidate has a doctoral degree in one of these research areas and a background in Mechanical Engineering. Publications within any of these areas should be addressed in the CV.
General assessment criteria include good interpersonal skills and an ability to cooperate, as well as the ability and suitability required to perform the duties well and to contribute to the future development of the research conducted within the subject.
Information
The position as researcher is a fixed-term full-time position for one year with start in January 2021. The salary depends on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience.
