Researcher in electric drive systems

Researcher in electric drive systems

Arbetsbeskrivning

We are looking for a highly motivated researcher to join us at the division and to develop innovative and high-quality solutions for electromobility and renewable power conversion. We constantly encourage individual growth in an open-minded, collaborative, and positive working environment, and look forward to your contribution to the team.

This position will strengthen the research area focusing on development of electrical drive systems. The main responsibilities of the position are to i) develop the strategic plan for the long-term research area; ii) contribute to research activities in on-going projects; iii) develop new research projects; and iv) contribute to the department activities, including teaching at master and bachelor level, supervision of PhD students and master students. The teaching tasks can be up to 30 % of the total working time.

The department and the division
At the department of Electrical Engineering, we see the value in all of our co-workers. We know that a variety of personalities and experiences makes the most creative workplaces. We therefore encourage applicants with any genders, backgrounds and abilities to apply for the position. We aim to create a positive impact on the development of society, environmentally, socially and economically.

At the division of Electric Power Engineering, we conduct research within a broad range of topics in electric power technology. Our purpose is to develop interdisciplinary research areas within the university as well as with external partners. Our research is based on a solid theoretical basis and extensive experimental verification in our laboratories as well as in the field. Research activities at the division are organized in two research units: 1) Power Grid and Components and 2) Electrical Machines and Power Electronics.

In the research unit on Electrical Machines and Power Electronics, we are about 30 employees, of which two third are PhD students and about 10 seniors and postdocs. Our research activities are conducted toward five directions: (1) electrical machines; (2) PE converters; (3) energy storage; (4) charging technology, and (5) propulsion systems.

Contract terms
Full-time permanent employment.

Your profile
For this position, you must have a PhD degree in electrical engineering with a focus on electric drive systems for vehicle or industrial applications. You should have at least three years working experiences in the area after the PhD.

The successful applicant is required to have: i) advanced knowledge in design and analysis of electrical drive systems; ii) proven ability to publish in high-rank articles such as the IEEE Transactions; iii) a good view of the whole electrical propulsion system of an electrical vehicle, which knowledge of all drive train components, in particular the electrical machines and inverters. Experiences in supervising PhD students and MSc students as well as ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses are meritorious. Experimental work and instrument handling are crucial in our research and educational activities because we believe that experimental verifications contribute to high quality in academic results and competence development.

You are also expected to be able to formulate research ideas, attracting funding, managing projects and leading research teams. Though we emphasize your strong academic capability, your industrial background will be appreciated because most of our research topics are application oriented.
