The Institute of Clinical Sciences, Department of Surgery at the Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg invites applications for a research position in cancer research, with placement in Wallenberg Centre for Molecular and Translational Medicine at the Sahlgrenska Center for Cancer Research. The research group has a strong desire to generate novel targets for cancer therapy and translate basic research findings into new and innovative clinical trials.

Job assignments
The research project aims mainly at defining new metabolic vulnerabilities in KRAS driven cancers with genome wide CRISPR/Cas9 screening. The ultimate goal is to improve prevention and treatment of solid KRAS-driven cancers including lung, colon and pancreatic cancers. The position contains a lot of wet lab work, problem solving as well as implementing new techniques, especially regarding metabolic vulnerabilities in cancer therapy.

The position requires to work independently as well as in collaboration with both national and international colleagues. Identifying and setting-up relevant new collaborations is also expected for a successful project. The researcher will also be required to teach and supervise graduate and undergraduate students in the lab.

Qualifications
The applicant must have a PhD degree in relevant subject such as molecular biology or tumor biology and medicine.The successful candidate should have a strong background in the field of genome-wide CRISPR screening for drug synergies and cancer biology. Other requirements are extensive practical laboratory experience, extensive experience in working with both in-vitro and in-vivo cancer models, molecular biology techniques such as Western blot and qPCR, and cancer-related assays. Having advanced knowledge of molecular cloning techniques including CRISPR/Cas9 based genome-wide functional screening is highly meriting.

Ability to work in a collaborative environment is a requirement, and experience in teaching graduate and under-graduate students. Meriting is strong self-discipline, problem-solution oriented workstyle, organizational skills and good communicative and interpersonal team skills. It is understood that the applicant masters scientific writing in English and has good general communication skills in English.

Following the qualitative overall assessment of skills and proficiency, applicants will be selected who are expected to have the best prerequisites for implementing and developing current tasks as well as contributing to a positive development of the scientific group.
