Department of Urban and Rural Development
The Division of Landscape Architecture within the Department of Urban and Rural Development is looking for a researcher in landscape architecture. The position focus is on strengthening the subject area Design Theory.
The Department of Urban and Rural Development is located at the main campus of SLU in Uppsala. It has a unique profile with its four main divisions, Landscape architecture (including planning), Environmental communication, Rural development, and Agrarian history. It offers a rapidly growing, international and interdisciplinary research environment with a research focus on the interplay between the environment and the society.

Duties
In close collaboration with colleagues, you will support the planning, execution, and development of research within the subject area Design Theory. You are expected to participate and organise seminars within the subject area and, to a minor degree, within the Department of Urban and Rural Development. You will also collaborate on publications and support the group with research grant applications. Furthermore, you are to assist the subject area’s doctoral students, as well as the development and planning of an international workshop.
Qualifications
A doctoral degree in a relevant field within the arts and humanities or social sciences (e.g. landscape architecture, urban design or urban planning, urban studies, human geography, philosophy) is required for the position. You have done research on the intersection of aesthetics and social justice/the political within (the design of) urban environments.
In your transnational career, you have published both monographs and articles in academic journals; editorial experience is preferred. You have documented experience as author and as reviewer of research grant proposals. Furthermore, you are experienced of interdisciplinary collaborations and in advising doctoral candidates. Excellent communication skills in English are expected.
You are enthusiastic, curious, and intellectually generous. You share your knowledge and skills, and are good at and enjoy collaborating with colleagues.
