Researcher in optical tweezers analysis of nucleic acids

Arbetsbeskrivning

We offer a position as researcher in single molecue biophysics of DNA and RNA. You will lead your own project but also supervise PhD and master students. You will also interact with other researchers in the Westerlund group and at the Chemical Biology (ChemBio) division.

Information about the research group
The position is located in the Westerlund-lab that works on methods for analysing single DNA molecules. The applications range all the way from fundamental biophysics to diagnostics. The group is located in the Chemical Biology division, where six groups perform research in biohysics, biochemistry, molecular biology, microbiology and cell biology. Parts of the work will be performed in collaboration with the group of Marcus Wilhelmsson at the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering.

Major responsibilities
You will have the main responsibility in maintaining the optical tweezers instrument. You will also operate the instrument in projects related to DNA/RNA structure and dynamics as well as interactions with of DNA/RNA and proteins. Further, you will analyse the data obtained using advanced programing software, such as Matlab. The position also includes supervising PhD and master students and assist the PI in writing grants.

Contract terms
Full-time permanent employment.

Qualifications
