Department of Soil and Environment
The Department of Soil and Environment is offering a researcher position for a study of European soil science higher education. The department conducts research, environmental analysis and education in soil science and sustainable land use. The majority of the department's activities and employees are located in the Soil-Water-Environment building on the SLU Ultuna campus in Uppsala, and there is a research group with a field research station situated in Skara.
Position description:
The main research activity for the position is to carry out an inventory and evaluation of existing higher education soil science in Europe within an EU funded research program “European Joint Program: Toward climate-smart sustainable management of agricultural soils (EJP Soil) (https://projects.au.dk/ejpsoil/). The inventory will be undertaken in collaboration with EJP Soil partners and relevant educational institutions that offer higher education programs and training in soil science in Europe. Results will be compiled as a project report. The work will be carried out in a group in collaboration with a project manager.
Qualifications:
The candidate who is offered the position shall
• have a PhD within a relevant field of science or in higher education learning and training (pedagogy).
• have good knowledge and / or experience of higher education, teaching or capacity building in natural science subjects.
• be fluent in written and spoken English.
Furthermore, it is an advantage to:
• have knowledge of soil science and agriculture.
• have experience of quantitative and qualitative methods of analysis with surveys and interviews (mixed methods).
• have documented experience of work with analysis and evaluation of higher educational systems and programs.
• master Swedish both as a written and spoken language.
In addition to the above-mentioned qualifications, your personal qualities are important, such as the ability to work in teams and to work independently in a multicultural environment.
