Arbetsbeskrivning
Are you a researcher or experienced engineer with a background in, e.
g., electromagnetics, wireless communications, and/or project management? Do you want to work in collaboration with leading industry in research and development of innovative technology and new test methods for a safer and more sustainable society? Then you might just be the right person for us!
About us
In an increasing pace we are on our way towards a future where everything is connected, sensing, and communicating, and simultaneously we meet a reality with severe challenges like climate change and cybersecurity threats. Mobile communication beyond 5G and “Internet of things”, electrification and automation of mobility and transport systems, pave the way to a safer, sustainable, and more efficient society. These future systems may also utilize intelligent systems based on machine learning and AI and must be made resilient and cybersecure.
At the department Vehicles and Automation within RISE, we continuously develop our world leading test facilities such as our large test chamber (www.awitar.se) for testing and research in EMC, radio systems, vehicle communication, etc. Today our department is one of the leading independent test centers in Europe with more than seven test chambers, working with security and reliability of electronics for various demanding environments. Within our department we also count the vehicle test range AstaZero (www.astazero.com) and the ongoing electromobility testbed SEEL, both joint ventures with Chalmers University.
About the role
We now need to strengthen and expand our research unit Wireless Communication in Borås with new colleagues to work mainly in fields of future mobile and vehicle communication, radio test methodologies and electrification for a fossil-free society. In our group, we work as an independent partner together with national and international industry and academia in research projects with the ambition to accelerate innovation and development. We operate in an exciting environment with access to the largest laboratories for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and radio testing in Sweden.
Who are you?
You are a researcher or engineer (MSc, PhD) with a theoretical background preferably in electrical engineering or physics, signal processing and/or wireless communication. You have some experimental experience in antennas, radio and/or microwave systems, as well as electromagnetic calculations and simulations, and knowledge or experience in cybersecurity, machine learning and artificial intelligence is also valued. You are curios, creative and have an innovative drive to find technical solutions. As a researcher at RISE, you have an extensive individual freedom and responsibility to engage actively in networking with research partners, drive new research project applications and work with project management. Thus, you are social, communicative, and organized, and it is a great advantage if you have experience in project management, preferably, coordinating larger European projects. Fluently spoken and written English is required, Swedish is an advantage. Since some of our activities may have security classifications, Swedish citizenship is an advantage.
Are we right for each other?
The research work at RISE is often challenging. This, you will share with dedicated colleagues in a dynamic environment that give you the opportunity to grow and develop as a researcher. At RISE the goal is for you to both enjoy your daily work and succeed in your career as a researcher, and at the same time contribute to a sustainable future and a competitive industry. Placement is mainly in Borås but there are possibilities to work part time from Göteborg.
