We are looking for outstanding applicants in the field of network automation. Your task will be to combine AI/ML and networking knowledge to design and implement functionalities for enhancing network performance in terms of security, resource efficiency, scalability, and energy efficiency.
Information about the research and the division
The applicant will work in the area of network automation. Network automation can broadly be described as developing and applying software for intelligent and autonomous network control and management. Functions that enable provisioning, monitoring, and adaptation of network infrastructure and services are critical enablers of network automation. Machine learning and big data techniques are essential for determining how to configure best and manage a network to meet specific performance goals.
The division of Communications, Antennas, and Optical Networks conducts cutting-edge research covering several aspects of communication infrastructures. The Optical Networks (ON) unit research topics include but are not limited to network design and performance optimization, control and management, fiber access and mobile transport networks, fiber-wireless convergence, network sustainability, reliability, security, and survivability.
Main responsibilities
Your primary responsibilities will be to attract funding, conduct cutting-edge research, and advise Ph.D. students. You are also expected to take project leadership roles.
Dissemination of scientific outcomes in top-tier journals, conferences, and symposia is expected. You may also be involved in teaching activities undertaken at the unit.
Contract terms
Full-time permanent employment.
Qualifications
Mandatory educational qualifications, experiences and skills:
- A Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunication, or similar.
- Proficiency in applying AI/ML methods to the management and operation of communication infrastructures, including monitoring, security, and service provisioning.
- Experience in building and executing experimental demonstrations and proofs of concepts.
- Ability and motivation to carry-on high-quality research.
- Strong track record demonstrated by publications in Q1 journals and top-tier international conferences.
- Outstanding programming skills.
- Excellent communication skills in oral and written English.
- Teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate level.
Valuable, but not mandatory:
- Experience in collaboration with industry (e.g., patent, technology transfers)
- International scientific collaboration experience
