Uppsala University hereby declares the following position to be open for application:
Researcher (Post doc) in Vascular Biology
at the Department of Genetics and Pathology.The position is permanent and the employment will start as soon as possible.
The department of Genetics and Pathology at Uppsala University (http://www.genpat.uu.se/en ) has a wide research profile with strong research groups in several areas.An important goal is to promote collaboration between clinical and preclinical scientists.The financial turnover is approximately 120 million Swedish kronor per year.The department employs about 200 people, of which around 50 are Ph.D. students.
Description of work: The research project is focused on vascular biology and regulation of endothelial cell function by vascular-specific growth factors, in particular VEGF.Main interests are in signal transduction by tyrosine kinases in stem cell differentiation to form endothelial cells and vascular structures in different models.The employed methodology involves ex vivo and in vivo models (stem cell cultures, tumor models, subcutaneous inflammation model).The research project is carried out in close contact with the PI but with independent initiatives concerning design of experiments, analysis and trouble-shooting.
The employment includes about 20 % teaching.
Requirements: PhD degree in biology.Documented knowledge in and experience of the vascular biology field, and in particular, in signal transduction regulating endothelial stem cell development.Documented experience in stem cell culture, animal work with tumor models as well as other angiogenesis models, immunostaining and microscopy (fluorescence and confocal).Ability to communicate through written and spoken English.Ability to in an engagement manner plan and initiate work and to trouble-shoot, within the realm of a collaborative effort.Social skills, personal engagement and compatibility will be of utmost importance.
