About this opportunity
The Standards & Technology team at the Business Area Networks is responsible for securing future technology leadership for the Ericsson Radio Networks. A part of achieving this is to develop concepts and drive standardization in 3GPP RAN for 5G and 6G, impacting RAN product decisions and future product design. Standards & Technology also drives Ericsson’s projects for standardization in 3GPP, IEEE, ITU, IETF, MEF, BBF, ORAN, ONAP and so on.
The Radio Interface Standardization team is currently driving the introduction of AIML techniques into 3GPP radio interface protocols for 5G Advanced and the emerging 6G standard.
We are now looking for a Researcher bringing profound AIML competence to our team to develop concepts and represent Ericsson in 3GPP RAN1 or RAN2, exploring the potential for standardization of AIML on the air interface.
What you will do
• Performing, documenting and communicating research studies, measurements or computer simulations
• Creating new technical solutions and protect them with Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)
• Preparing technical input and participating as a delegate in 3GPP standardization meetings
• Supervising and coach other researchers
• Collaborating with product development teams
• Developing or contributing to technology strategies and standardization strategies
• Developing or contributing to evaluation tools, demonstrators or test beds if needed
The skills you bring
• PhD in Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Technical Physics, or equivalent
• The successful candidate has a proven track record in applying AIML methods to enhance radio communication protocols. Besides proven experience in AIML, a detailed understanding of radio interface technologies in 5G NR is a necessary requirement.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to acquire new knowledge and apply it in the job
• Proficiency in English (written and spoken)
• Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills
• Ability to formulate problems and solve them independently
• Creativity, innovation mindset and ability to work independently
• Ability to deliver high quality results under deadlines
• Ability to develop and drive new ways of working, to produce research results in a more efficient way
• Deciding & initiating action
• Working with people across organizations inside and outside the company
• Applying expertise & technology in developing new radio communication concepts
• Ability to travel to global standardization meetings
