The Department of Economics (www.slu.se/en/departments/economic) provide research and teaching in business studies as well as in economics. The Department emphasises applied science, often in cooperation with the university’s natural science subjects. We work primarily with the food value chain as well as with natural resources, environmental- and sustainability issues in focus. We are organized in four research groups: entrepreneurship and innovation, agri-business decision-making and behavior, agricultural and food economics, as well as on natural resource and environmental economics. Together with Lund University, and by commission from the Swedish Government, we also provide economic expertise in the fields of food, agriculture, fishing and rural development through the AgriFood Economics Center (www.agrifood.se/eng). The Department has around 65 faculty and staff, including around 15 PhD students.
General description of the position
The research within this position will relate to research aiming to understand consumption decisions by individuals as well as decisions by food consumers. The work will be based on behavioral economics and use experimental as well as statistical methods. The incumbent of this position will also provide teaching within courses in economics experimental methods, business analytics and similar.
Qualifications
PhD in Economics. The successful applicant should have a solid background in empirical research methods as well as in quantitative data analysis. In particular, familiarity with experimental and behavioral methods will be considered a merit. Proficiency in statistical methods related to natural language processing, topic analysis and unsupervised machine learning is required. Experience from teaching content related to economics experimental method is required. The position requires very good communication skills in English. A publication record commensurate with the level of the position is expected. The successful applicant should be strongly motivated to work with tasks outlined above. Personal merits will play a significant role in the recruitment process.
