The School of Science and Technology is seeking a researcher in biology for a fixed-term appointment at The Life Science Research Center.
Duties and responsibilities
The main duty is to perform research on microbial-induced PFAS uptake by plants. The project is part of an ongoing collaboration between The Systems Immunology and Microbiology group at Örebro university and researchers at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Uppsala. The project will focus on soil microbiota and its effect on PFAS availability for plants using hydroponics and pot experiments for improving phytoremediation. The main duties will involve both environmental sampling and laboratory research that includes collecting soil, water and plant samples, establishing molecular methods for microbiome assessment, maintaining hydroponics system, and assessment of microbes and plants. Other duties include general lab maintenance, communicating with partners and dissemination of research results.
Eligibility
To be eligible for a position as a researcher the successful candidate should have a PhD degree in biology or related subjects with focus on microbiology.
Assessment criteria
Documented practical experience and skills in microbiology, bacteriology and plant systems. Experience in bioremediation, molecular biology and microscopy will be advantageous. The successful candidate should be thorough, ambitious, highly motivated and have the ability to cooperate in a team, as well as to work independently. Proficiency in written and spoken English is necessary.
Information
The position is a 12 month position (100%). The salary depends on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience in relation to the tasks.
