Arbetsbeskrivning
Are you a researcher in systems engineering or software engineering, interested in complex software-intensive systems and systems thinking? Do you want to apply this in exciting research projects related to digitalization in different industries?
We are looking for a researcher to strengthen RISE's strategic activities in applied system architecture and software technology for cyber-physical systems.
Location is Kista, Västerås, Gothenburg or Lund.
Our team is at the forefront of international research and development in complex software-intensive and connected cyber-physical systems. We work with issues related to digitalization, and how to develop system-of-systems, where different independent (cyber-physical) systems are to be made to cooperate to solve a task. Important issues are about system architecture, software, business models, safety and security, life cycle management, development process including methods and tools, socio-technical aspects, interoperability, and much more. The research is largely conducted together with companies and public actors based on concrete cases and demonstrations in a number of different industries, such as transport, construction, manufacturing, energy, defense, crisis management, health, agriculture, etc. We also participate actively in the international research communities in the field, and our results often lead to scientific publications.
About the role
You are expected to independently and in collaboration with colleagues carry out research and innovation projects in close collaboration with industrial and academic partners, both in publicly funded projects and in direct assignments from the business community. You will be involved in application processes as well as in leading projects and activities. You will work in a committed team with great individual freedom.
Who are you?
We are looking for a researcher with previous experience of research projects from an academic environment or from the industry. Both people with longer or shorter professional experience can be considered. You appreciate both applied research and interaction with experts in the problem domain. It is important that you have a holistic perspective and find patterns in complex contexts, which presupposes that you are comfortable working at different levels of abstraction and have an understanding of a system's entire life cycle.
If you have any or all of the following characteristics and experiences, it is a merit for the position:
- Doctoral degree in a relevant field such as applied computer science, systems engineering or similar.
- Practical experience of applied research or system development from the industry.
- Knowledge in system architecture, model-based system development, system dynamic analysis, simulation, software development, programming, interoperability, verification and validation, requirements analysis, information modeling.
- Demonstrated ability to write successful research applications.
- Skill in presenting and documenting your work in English and Swedish.
Fluent English is a requirement, and good knowledge of Swedish is valued.
