RISE works with the entire food chain and combines knowledge in innovative technologies, systems and products in order to obtain a sustainable food production and consumption.

About us
Product Design at RISE is searching for Researcher with focus on food extraction technologies and methods. The unit consists of 24 colleagues working with technology and design of foods and other biobased materials, assisting industry with product development and applied research. Topics range from novel plant-based food, 3D-printed food for seniors to new applications for nano-cellulose and marine biopolymers. We combine expertise in practical experimental activities and test beds, especially www.ri.se/sv/test-demo/pilotproduktion-av-livsmedel, with advanced instrumental analysis of food structure, materials science and aroma chemistry.

About the role
The role as Researcher includes generating and managing projects together with clients and public partners, in the field of extraction and production of functional food ingredients. It also includes responsibility for the delivery of the scientific and technical results in accordance with budget and time plan. In addition, method development, training of junior colleagues as well as coordinating and active participation in practical work in our test and demo facilities are all aspects that are included in the work. We focus on applied research and all work is conducted in collaboration with our customers, who range from SMEs to large multinational companies. Part of the work is therefore also on establishing and maintaining a network within food industry and with public funding agencies. The work is always in close collaboration with other colleagues and competences, within and outside RISE.

Who are you?
You like challenges and look for solutions, and like working together with colleagues and external partners both within academia and industry. Experience of generating and performing research and development projects within extraction and separation technologies to develop food ingredients is a very strong merit. Particularly previous experience from protein extraction and fundamental understanding of food raw material properties and how the process influences the final product characteristics. We think you have PhD in food engineering (or equivalent) and experience from the food industry is desirable as well as an established network within the academia and/or industry. You should enjoy maintaining and developing customer contacts into new research projects. You are fluent in English, both in writing and verbally, and good knowledge in Swedish is a strong merit.
