reference number 316-124-10 This position will be placed at the Landscape Ecology Group at the Department of Ecology and Environmental Science (EMG).The department has about 170 employees.For more information, see the department's webpage: www.emg.umu.se.Description of the research environment The position will belong to the 4-year, interdisciplinary, strategic research project RESTORE, funded by Formas and aimed at analyzing how ecological and political incentives interact in ecosystem restoration design.Fully staffed, the project will involve a campus team and an international team representing political science and ecology.The campus team will consist of the researcher/project coordinator, 3 professors, 3 PhD students and 3 post-docs and the international team of at least 3 researchers.We expect the researcher/project coordinator to coordinate and plan the work and inspire the project staff to develop interdisciplinary approaches.The project will include regular workshops which the coordinator is expected to plan, practically as well as scientifically.The researcher/project coordinator shall guide sampling and data analysis and be an important communicator of project results.This includes organizing and contributing to a project website reporting both to the scientific community and the nature conservation managers.The researcher/project coordinator is also expected to carry out research within the project to an extent of about 50%.Essential qualifications and merits Eligible for this position are candidates with a PhD exam in a relevant subject area and postdoctoral experience.Competence in restoration ecology and GIS is a merit.Additional requirements are experience of interdisciplinary work, project management, supervision of PhD students, and network building.We expect the candidate to have documented skills in communication of research results, a good publication record and master fluent English and Swedish in both speech.The application, in English, must include a short summary (1-2 pages) of the applicant's previous research experience, a short description (1-2 pages) of the expected contribution to the research, a CV with a list of publications, and names and contact details of three reference persons.
