Description of Accelerator division
The Radio Frequency (RF) Section is responsible for defining, designing, installing, commissioning and finally for operating and maintaining the accelerator RF systems and amplifiers required for the accelerator and test stands at ESS.
Description of main responsibilities
You will be working in the RF Section which currently has 15 people including engineers and technicians with electrical, RF and mechanical expertise. Your main responsibilities will be to assist in the installation and testing of the ESS RF systems, sub-systems and test stands. The main tasks will be hands on work with an element of record keeping, documentation and design.
• Assist with installation activities of the RF systems including rack mounted components, cabling and assembly;
• Production and maintenance of electrical schematics;
• Work with RF, electronics and mechanical activities within your competence;
• Carry out testing of components on delivery, following installation and when in operation;

• Spares management;
• Supervision of contractors and suppliers as required.

You have some experience with electronics, fault finding and repair. You can follow installation, operation manuals and ESS procedures and have the ability and experience to complete test reports, fault finding and preventative maintenance. Knowledge of RF amplifiers and components is an advantage but not essential for all the positions as training can be provided.
We first and foremost look for people with a positive and proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and get involved, but in addition, skills and a keen interest in some of the following would be an advantage:
• General mechanical, electrical, wiring and installation.
• Production of electrical schematics using e-plan, AutoCAD or similar;
• Fault finding and troubleshooting;
• Ability to read and understand electrical schematics for fault finding and repair;
• Basic theoretical and practical knowledge of electronic circuits, electronic racks, cabling and wiring;
• PCB layout, production and fault finding;
• Identification and procurement of components and equipment.
• Test and measurement including use of multimeters, oscilloscopes and specialised RF test equipment;
• Swedish qualifications to be able to carry out electrical installations would be an advantage.
To be successful and perform well in this position, you have a demonstrated ability to work both independently and with others. You communicate effectively with a good command of oral and written English. You take initiative and adopt well to changes in priorities and can plan and organise your work to support the whole team.
