Arbetsbeskrivning
The European Spallation Source ERIC (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, is one of the largest science and technology infrastructure projects being built today. The project includes the most powerful linear proton accelerator ever built, a five-tonne, helium-cooled tungsten target wheel, 15 state-of-the-art neutron instruments, a suite of laboratories, and a supercomputing data management and software development centre. In the context of its history and future as a scientific organisation, however, it is more than the sum of its parts. It is a brand new Big Science organisation and we are building it from the ground up.
About the role
ESS is now in search of a Rigging Technician to join our small and close-knit Installation and Rigging Group. The group is responsible for providing guidance as well as performing rigging activities such as heavy lifting, handling and crane operations. The team is also implementing general procedures and guidelines for how to work safely with rigging at ESS.
Among the tasks for this position are:
• Performing rigging work in the areas of lifting, assembly and disassembly of equipment on the ESS site and nearby storage areas.
• Providing guidance throughout the organisation within the subject rigging, such as lifting methods as well as installation procedures.
• Performing loading/unloading of materials, maintenance of and minor repairs on lifting equipment as well as reporting faults on materials. It also includes taking care of waste and tools after completion of work.
• Supporting Rigging Lead in continuing to establish the rigging function within the organisation.
• Supporting Rigging Lead in managing the ownership of rigging materials as well as cranes at the facility.
This role requires health and safety and/or security checks, which will be carried out during the recruitment process.
This is a permanent, full-time position, placed in Lund, Sweden, and we need someone who can start as soon as practically possible.
About you
To be successful in this position you need to have a few years’ experience of similar work, and of the tasks described above. It is an advantage if you have experience with Swedish rules and regulations in this area. You also need a license for forklift and overhead cranes, and a driver’s license of minimum B level.
You feel comfortable communicating in English, as it is the working language at ESS. Knowledge in Swedish is an advantage.
To thrive in this role we believe that you enjoy communicating and collaborating with people of various backgrounds and areas of expertise, and you know that both patience and a flexible mindset are useful traits. You are solution-oriented, service-minded and strive to meet deadlines, whilst not losing sight of working responsibly and safely with a high quality focus.
