We are looking for a Safety Engineer for our Embedded System Development team in Stockholm, Sweden. Our location at the waterfront in Liljeholmen is a leading engineering site of Alstom’s Digital & Integrated Solutions division, with long experience of rail signalling technology development.

Purpose of the Job
As a Safety Engineer at Alstom, you will develop a great understanding of the complex functionality of our rail signalling solutions. By analysing the system from a product safety perspective, you will contribute to safe and sustainable mass transit. You will contribute to the technical solution by ensuring compliance with the latest regulatory and functional requirements.
The Safety Engineer provides leadership in the development project, in order to ensure that all safety aspects are considered and is a key player in the interaction with customers, validators, third party certifiers and other stakeholders.
As a System Engineer, you will work closely with the systems engineers, and together with the SW-, HW- and test engineers in the cross-functional design teams. You will identify safety input requirements, formalize them into design requirements and interface specifications for our products. This includes liaising with customers, systems engineers, validators, assessors and homologation authorities and other stakeholders.
In addition, the definition and documentation of the safety-related documentation will be part of your work scope, such as maintaining and following up user and installation manuals. You will be working in a cross-functional project team, closely together with HW/SW-developers, safety engineers and testers.

Your responsibilities will include:
Performing hazard and risk analysis to evaluate the product safety of different system solutions.
Develop safety mitigation strategies together with the system engineers
Creation of safety-related documentation, such as safety plans, hazard analysis, FTA, FMECA and related tasks to build up the safety case of a product
Maintaining and following up the hazard database for designated products
Safety support for implementers, designers, integrators, testers, validators and homologation
Define and carry out safety-related activities necessary for the project based on established processes
Contribute to the continuous improvement of the company’s processes and best practices in the area of systems safety
Together with the design team making sure that the necessary safety activities and the related documentation are completed on time and in right quality for the safety approval of the system
Key requirements:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (preferably Electrical, Computer Science, Applied Physics or similar).
Proven record of experience working with safety analysis and requirements of complex technical systems (Embedded Systems Development, Electrical System Design, or similar development/design).
Experience from Rail, Medtech, Aerospace or other safety critical systems development is meriting.
Experience of development according to safety standards such as CENELEC (EN50126, EN50128, EN50129) or equivalent.
Experience with the methodologies for analysing and specifying systems including safe functions.
Experience with specification and documentation of complex technical systems including software and hardware.
Good understanding of product life cycle management and configuration management.
Good knowledge and experience of time critical embedded systems preferred.
English at a fluent level is mandatory for this role, Swedish will be considered a plus.
Excellent social, communication and presentation skills.
