The ESS is at an exciting turning point. It is in transition from being a construction site, to being an operating facility. To help us realise our goal of being the most powerful neutron source in the world, we are now seeking to appoint a Safety Training Engineer to join our Environment, Safety, Health (ESH) & Security division. The ESH & Security division at ESS is responsible for developing, supporting, monitoring and assuring the implementation of policies, rules, processes, objectives and best practices at all levels of the organisation in matters of ESH & Security.
Our division develops and maintains a strategy for Environment, Safety, Health & Security - in particular the regulatory compliance strategy - developing an ESS safety and security culture. This includes the continual improvement of related programs and activities, as well as the coordination of mandatory authority contacts in these matters.
In the role as Safety Training Engineer you will be responsible for safety training at ESS aligning safety training with our strategic objectives and ensuring successful integration of safety training across the organisation. You will have the mandate to lead development and implementation of safety trainings and safety training programs across ESS. You will manage the Learning Management System (LMS), enhance its support for safety training initiatives and user experience, and use your knowledge of to develop and deliver engaging, impactful and relevant training to a diverse audience of engineers, technicians, scientists and other related professionals.
You will leverage your expertise to advise on ways of working, to manage and develop safety training and to communicate to the organisation on new or updated safety trainings. You will also be required to liaise with the Training Coordinator and HR to facilitate training sessions, ensuring strategic content delivery within the LMS, implement quality assurance measures to evaluate training effectiveness and facilitate continuous improvement and maintain current and accessible documentation for the Safety Training function.
This is a full-time, permanent position with a 6 months´ probationary period based at the ESS Campus in Lund, Sweden.
About you:
For this role, we need someone with at least 5-10 years experiences in a similar or related position who holds a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a relevant qualification in Occupational Health and Safety. Your expertise extends to Learning Management Systems, including platforms like Saba Cloud and Cornerstone. You're someone who is adept at hands-on e-learning development; from needs assessment and gap analysis to course development, training implementation, and evaluation. Proficiency with e-learning authoring tools, such as Articulate, would give you a unique advantage.
As an experienced safety training engineer or expert, your approach to continuous improvement is relentless. You excel at developing and delivering digital training content, drawing on a deep understanding of learning processes and training cycles. Your skills in competence development should be matched by your ability to manage diverse stakeholders effectively and lead projects to successful completion. We need someone who does not shy away from challenges.. We need someone who has the proven ability to set and maintain the highest standards of quality and productivity. Your systematic and methodical approach ensures you consistently achieve goals. Flexibility is another of your strengths, as you will need to adapt readily to changing circumstances and new ideas, demonstrating respect and sensitivity to suit different people or situations.
We are building ESS from the ground up, so we need someone who is comfortable not only following procedures, but also creating them. We attach great importance to personality and attitude, so we're looking for a real team player: Someone who has a natural ability to work with people, demonstrating empathy, adaptability, and a knack for building team spirit. Your communication skills are exemplary; you speak clearly and confidently, express ideas effectively, and engage audiences with ease.
The working language of ESS is English but the ability to also work in Swedish would be an advantage. For this role, we need someone who can start as soon as possible.
