The school is situated in Djursholm, a beautiful suburb of Stockholm, and enjoying an excellent reputation. BISS is a vibrant and highly successful not-for -profit school, based across two sites. We currently have around 500 children from 40 different countries, together with approximately 100 staff. Meeting internationally recognised standards of excellence, the school is an accredited member of COBIS (the Council of British International Schools) and received an excellent BSO inspection report. Applicants need to be:
A registered paediatric nurse, district nurse or school nurse
A warm, welcoming and helpful nature
Strong organisational and administrative skills
A good communicator with fluent spoken and written English
General IT competency
Eligibility to work in Sweden
A commitment to the protection and safeguarding of children and young people
Knowledge of health promotion, child protection, education and screening, with some insight into the health needs of children
Diplomatic and discreet, with personal integrity
Extra merit is given if you are:
Specialist child or school nurse training or experience of health promotion work with children
Knowledge of the Swedish health system and school linked agencies
Good spoken Swedish
Able to take the initiative and have a proactive approach to problem solving Providing day to day health care and pastoral
Administering medication according to BISS's policy
Promoting healthy lifestyle and eating, including involvement in monitoring school lunches
Offering advice and support to parents, who may be new to the Swedish system
Implementing vaccination programmes according to national guidelines
Liasing with relevant staff to advise on health education aspects of the curriculum
Assisting in the teaching and training of both pupils and teaching staff (e.g. First Aid, CPR, Anaphylaxis)
Compiling and maintaining pupil health records and notes of visits and treatments
Assisting in referrals to outside agencies, where appropriate
Ensuring First Aid boxes are in place and replenished as required throughout the school
Providing First Aid kits for journeys, trips and visits
Ensuring safe storage, usage and disposal of medical supplies and drugs
Providing newsletter or other items, alerting parents about certain illnesses
Ensuring the storage and communication of personal information complies with GDPR
Taking responsibility for personal professional development to meet the requirements of the role and ensure best nursing practice
Organising of school doctor's visits
