Your team
The Communications Group at MAX IV Laboratory is responsible for supporting internal and external communications, including press and research communication, branding, projects and events as well as the MAX IV website and social media presence.
We advise on what should be communicated, where and when and to whom as well as provide training and certain operational assistance for communication issues to employees and management. The group consists of the Head of Communications two Communications Officers, and a webmaster.

MAX IV are looking for a science communications officer for six months to complement our team
Your main responsibility will be to support staff and users by producing and disseminating scientific results from MAX IV. Your target groups are the public, decision-makers and potential users who are not yet familiar with synchrotron light and its benefits.
You will assist the webmaster in the work of developing and maintaining the external and internal websites as well as coordinate the public outreach and engagement efforts of MAX IV. You will be the project leader of our annual Open House event, as well as manage our team of student employees who works as guides for visits to MAX IV.
Your main work tasks will be
- write news articles and publish social media messages about the science being conducted at MAX IV
- coordinate public outreach activities at MAX IV
- assist with graphic design and illustration tasks
- assist the webmaster with developing and maintaining the external and internal websites
To be successful in this role you need to have the following qualifications
- University degree in Communications or other relevant experience in the field of communication
- Fluent in English, written and spoken
- At least limited working proficiency in Swedish, written and spoken
- Proven experience with Social Media, Wordpress and Adobe CC
- Proven experience in communicating complex science in a pedagogical way tailored to different audiences
Below are seen as merits
- Experience in UX design
- Experience in organizing complex processes and projects
- Work experience from a synchrotron radiation laboratory

MAX IV is a Swedish national large-scale research laboratory hosted by Lund University. It provides scientists from Sweden as well as internationally, with state-of-the-art instrumentation for research in areas such as engineering, physics, structural biology, chemistry and nanotechnology. Fully developed it will receive more than 2 000 scientists annually, conducting ground-breaking experiments in materials and life sciences using the brilliant X-ray light.
