Arbetsbeskrivning
The European Spallation Source has the ambition to become the brightest source of neutrons for science and technology and be operational by the end of this decade. 22 state of the art neutron scattering instruments will be made available to addressing a wide range of scientific fields in fundamental and materials science. We expect to welcome between 2000 and 3000 users per year from both academia and industry.
The Science Directorate oversees the ESS neutron scientific activities with a structure including three Instrument Divisions, the Data Management and Software Center, Sample Environment and Laboratory support groups and the newly created Research Coordination Office.

• Industrial liaison activities.
As the Science Coordination Officer, you will occupy a key position at the ESS and be expected to:
• Deliver scientific conferences, workshops and symposia geared towards engaging academic and industrial ESS users. Manage logistics, scheduling, and follow-up actions to ensure the success of these events.
• Implement outreach strategies to engage industrial users. Build and maintain relationships within the industrial neutron user community.
• Develop and execute education programmes for project students, interns, master's students, and PhD students at ESS. Encourage projects co-supervised by industrial and ESS scientists, promoting a blend of academic excellence and industrial relevance.
• Organise in person and remote science seminars to showcase ESS scientific research. Promote attendance internally and in the wider science community.
• Strengthen networks and promote interdisciplinary collaboration between scientists using different techniques in similar science areas. Facilitate thematic science activities that enhance cooperation among researchers.
• Develop and maintain communication materials that not only inform the scientific community about the work of the ESS Science Directorate but also highlight the benefits and opportunities for the industrial sector.
This is a permanent position based in Lund, Sweden with a preferred start date of 1 October 2024.
